I’ve been getting numerous not-quite-complaints about the black background. So were gonna try out a more standard black text/white background.
Let me know which is preferred.

I like the old way.
I liked the black background. But maybe that’s only because it was what I was used to. The white background is nice too, just startling when you expect black. I like it. It’ll just take some getting used to. But both backgrounds work. They’re both austere, and plain, and startling, which is kind of what vampires should be, right?
I like it better this way, but then I’m guessing you knew that…..
Plus it looks more wintery.
I think I prefered the old way. This way is just a tiny bit too plain for me.
go back to black. this is way too… surgical..
black suited the mood of the story.
if they don’t like what you originally chose… screw them.
it’s your choice and I thought it was fitting
Ahh! it burns!!
No, seriously though, Something along the lines of a silvery gray or even a medium to dark gray would be less painful to look at, and still be wintery. The black text seems to recede, at least to my eyes, so that it’s harder to find. Expecially on a full page of solid white/black.
Actually, this is more like what the site looked like when I first started reading the story. It was a different theme but this same black on white coloring. If you’re going to talk about screwing people who don’t like a change from the “original” you should probably know what you’re talking about.
That said, and as I have already mentioned elsewhere, those who dislike a site’s color scheme can always disable styles in their browser to make things easier to read. So it’s not the most important thing.
I prefer dark on light; it’s just easier to read. One can always frame it on a darker background. Or, if you really want it to be white on black you can always say “screw you, change your browser config to ignore my style sheet.” If you do that, though, you’ll lose people. I guarantee you, as a professional web developer, that you lose more people with a light-on-dark reading scheme than you do with a dark-on-light reading scheme. I’m not saying I’d take my ball and go home–far from it–I’m just sayin’.
