Well… I must say that I’m a bit curious how many readers I lost with that little stunt… But no worries, Winter’s Mercenary is most certainly not dead and we’re going to pretend from here on out that 13.5 never happened. I’m going to put it in the Bonus Story section, and Winter’s Mercenary will begin again sometime within the next two weeks.

I initially thought that it was a steel knife and that James would wake up being prisoner of Department 7. Which would have been kinda cool. But nice April Fools joke. It took me a few minutes to realize what day it was(once I checked back on the comments and realized that the story had ‘ended’).

I could tell it was a joke. The writing style was different. More rushed.
It just didn’t seem right, though I am sure department 7 has more telepaths. But it would be something for James to walk into one on the way out. Let alone one that knew the person he is trying to be.

I’m glad the overall response was positive. I had fun writing this and while I wasn’t planning on having James actually get captured, I’ve been thinking that it may very well be the plot point I need to get the story going in the direction I need. We’ll see what happens though.
I should also add that because this is on the fly writing in which I let the characters drive the story, James could very well find himself in a corner that only ends in death.

See for me it just seemed like shitty writting in a story the author has given up on and wants to kill off, thereofre does not care about. That and the fact it was april 2nd for me
lol. So i just thought the author decided to be a massive tool and kill the story without any effort at all. lol Glad I was wrong.
It has been well over a month since the last update. You have to wonder if the April fools joke was really a joke.
