Chapter 11, Part 2
The fog that her presence had filled my head with slowly started to clear. Whether this was because I was just that strong willed or because she was tired of me staring at her rack, I’ll never know.
“James, tell me, why haven’t you done what I’ve told you yet?”
“Huh?” I said, looking up to her eyes.
She sighed then, getting up off the bed and walking-no, gliding-towards me. She smiled at me, running her fingers through my hair as I melted at her touch. Then, without warning, she grabbed a handful and pulled. Hard.
The pain snapped me completely out of the fog and back into reality.
“Ow! FUCK! What the-!”
“James,” she interrupted, ”I asked you to do one simple thing and you haven’t done it yet.” She said, finally letting me go. “Why?”
“The five of them took down a troll before it realized it had been summoned.” I said, stepping out of her reach. “You can’t expect me to have them dead in a day! This is the kind of thing that takes time.”
“Yes, Grogbak was extremely upset about being shunted back to the Court so quickly,” she said, plucking bits of my scalp from her fingernails. “As for it taking time, just blow their vehicle up when they all pile in. It would certainly save you the worry of being gunned down.”
I hadn’t thought of that.
“That’s a good idea, but why are you so eager to have them dead? I’ve never had a deadline before.”
“You’ve never had the opportunity to take out five of them at once. There’s no telling how long they’ll be such an easy target.”
“I don’t think we’ll have to worry about that, their boss seems to have them on a tight leash,” I said, remembering Angel’s use of the little shock box. “Besides, so what if they disband? They’ll be easier targets and their deaths won’t start an investiga- Did you hear that?”
I turned my attention to the door. I thought I had heard the tell-tale sound of a bullet being chambered outside. I grabbed my sword and inched closer, looking out the peephole.
“James, what ever you’re doing, stop it an-”
“Shut up Mab.” I said, not looking away from the peephole.
Just then a figure filled the view and knocked on the door. It was Angel.
“How the hell?” I muttered to myself, turning to Mab and saying “You might want to leave,” before realizing that she had already made herself scarce.

Now maybe we’ll get some answers!
“Shut up, Mab.”
Hmm…why does this not seem like such a good idea…
Glad to have you back and updating.

I like Mab.
Whee! All caught up. I love where this is going and I’m hoping we get some answers from/about Angel.
Why do I get the feeling his targets just came to him?
Just wanted to let you know that I’m really enjoying the story and am doing my best to get my friends hooked as well.
Looking forward to the next chapter!
