The Chronicles of James Damian

“We now walk amongst the humans. Though as I said earlier, if the sun is out, we generally aren’t going to do much. You see, even though the sunlight doesn’t kill us, it limits us physically. You wont be seeing any of us lifting people off of the ground, or moving quicker than you can perceive. As a matter of fact, if you see someone waking down the street with a pair of fangs it more than likely means that you need to get behind a threshold because the night is fast approaching. And take it from me, you do not want to be around a vampire who’s spent all day in the sun.

“Things get messy when that happens.”

- Samuel Lasher to James Damian

We made it back to my hotel without another attempt on our lives. There we explained our various capabilities to each other. As it turns out, Kanyun was, as he called it, an “Esoteric Runologist.” My blank stare caused him to explain that what it meant was that he, unlike myself, didn’t [...]

    Chapter 14, Part 4

The desk slammed into me with the force of a Sherman tank, rocketing me backwards into a parked car. Well, more like through a parked car, considering I landed on the opposite side of the street.
As I started picking my senses up from their various landing spots, I heard a loud crack-thud [...]

5 years later, I got to the bottom of Department 7’s staircase and into the x-ray. Giant’s 1 and 2 were still on guard and let me in with barely a passing glance at my ID. Finding the library this time around was a bit easier since I’d been there before and [...]
